taken after her final refit following the end of the war. Her wartime paint work has been removed and the twin 4" guns have been relocated from the upper deck onto the main deck forward and adjacent to the aft funnel. Also she has the new control tower and director fitted in the 1946 refit and the extra AA guns have been removed from B turret. So best guess is between 1947 - 1953. (with thanks to Warren)

and Rick has provided the following - Port Melbourne, April 1949. Australia in her postwar configuration. A type 274 gunnery radar aerial is mounted on the main armament director with type 285 on the after director just before the mainmast and also on the secondary armament high angle directors on the forward superstructure. An aerial for type 277 surface search radar is on a platform forward of the foremast, replacing the type 273 lantern previously mounted abaft the director. Type 293 target indication radar is fitted to the top of the foremast. A type 281B air search aerial is fitted on the mainmast. The close range armament visible consists of the quadruple 2 pounder AA guns mounted about two thirds of the way towards towards the stern and quadruple US 40mm Bofors AA guns mounted beside the forward superstructure. Note the whip aerials on her forward and after funnel. Her narrow armour belt is visible just above her boot topping.
